Woke to clear skies after yesterday's heavy rain !!! so we got up a bit earlier packed a picnic then Mag, David Jenna and I headed up the road to the Samoens cable car. We bought a full day lift pass for the whole area (45 euro's each :( !!!) so that we could ski the casade run :) Mag C skiiedwith Tom and Abi later. The trip up the mountain was fantastic with clouds rolling up the valley and lots of hot air balloons heading off again :) We then headed over to Flaine which is not the prettiest resort and the run in was a nightmare as the piste was icy and very crowded :( We took the Aup De Veran cable up and enjoyed the red runs down then headed up the Grandes Plateires to 2480. It was a short ski along the top to the start of the 14 km les casades run :) It was the most amazing run out in the mountain wilderness :) and not too much uphill skiing :) David and Jenna soon forged ahead while Mag and I took our time enjoying the scenery. I tried a little off piste and took loads of pics :) After spotting a big bird circling above the trees - an eagle ??? we stopped by a first aid hut and had our picnic - loving the sunshine :) A little farther down we came across what the piste is named after - the casades - one frozen and one running - amazing !!! We then followed the steeper icy, winding path following the river all the way back to the bus stop at Salvagny - we arrived just as the bus pulled in so we rode back to Samoens then went back up the cable and had another hour, skiing down the marvel run to Morillon and then down the red back into Samoens but because of all the rain yesterday (none fell as snow !!!) the pistes were very icy and not much fun to ski on !! but it didn't spoil the best day of the holiday so far :) Then back to the apartment for a great vegetable curry and another marathon phase 10 which Maggie Coles won - her first ever win :)
